First ALL VOICES Cohort Completes Eight-week Program

We are thrilled to announce the successful completion of the inaugural cohort of ALL VOICES, our free eight-week professional development program open to individuals from groups currently underrepresented in communication and related fields. Led by our co-founders Tim Cage and John Capecci, this career-boosting program left a lasting impression on all participants.

The cohort of three included:

  • Jess Jones (Albuquerque, NM), an educational consultant specializing in LGBTQ+ affirming practices;

  • Devane Murphy (Lexington, KY), assistant coach of the University of Kentucky debate team and specialist in nonprofit management; and

  • Calondra Tibbs (Atlanta, GA), a nonprofit specialist and public health practitioner.

ALL VOICES was designed as a dynamic blend of skill-building, discussion and hands-on application, conducted live online multiple times per week. Participants explored fundamentals of the Living Proof Advocacy approach to tapping the power of personal stories for advocacy, and ways in which it resonated with or intersected with their work.

Throughout the program, participants worked closely in a collaborative learning environment with Tim, John and each other, receiving personalized coaching and guidance. By taking part in the program, participants also earned LPA Coaching Certification training, providing them with valuable skills and ongoing resources for their advocacy work.

“We were most excited about how many different ways Jess, Devane and Calondra were finding ways to explore the whole notion of storytelling for advocacy and adapt it to their work,” John said. “We had a great time brainstorming and constantly asking, ‘Well, how does this fit into your world? How could this benefit your work or the communities you work with?’”

The program also offered professional development support, including networking opportunities with coaches previously certified by LPA and exposure to various professional paths.

Another highlight of the program were the relationships made throughout the process. “We were overjoyed by how much they supported each other's work.” Tim said. “They got together outside of our regular meetings to coach and encourage each other, to give suggestions on their individual projects and even to compare their busy travel schedules to see if they might even be in the same town and could meet for coffee.”

John and Tim, reflecting on the program, expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to work closely with such passionate and driven individuals. Both believe the inaugural ALL VOICES program was a big success, creating excitement for future cohorts.

Congratulations, Jess, Devane and Calondra!
